A "diamond" embedded in the Gulf of Policastro and overlooking the Tyrrhenian Sea.
Maratea is a town with eclectic landscapes, with intoxicating scents of sea and flowers, rocks kissed by the sun's rays creating brilliant plays of light.
The blue of the sea and the green of the vegetation typical of the mediterranean scrub meets the rocky cliff that together surround the beautiful beaches of the coast, embellished offshore by rocks and islets, interspersed by high and steep rocky walls that, now dive into the Tyrrhenian Sea, now they are retracted welcoming coves and beaches. The pristine greenery alternates crystalline seabed, pristine beaches, picturesque coves and lakes, and in this corner of Basilicata the sea and the mountains alternate between gorges, coves, caves that make it the ideal stage for our sports activities.
The town is dominated by Mount San Biagio, on which stands the Statue of the Redeemer, also known as " Christ of
Maratea", second in size only to that of Rio de Janeiro which, in a dominant position, overlooks the sea. In concrete mixed with Carrara marble, it is an extraordinary work by the Florentine sculptor Bruno Innocenti, installed in 1965. The statue is 22 meters high, it depicts Christ the Redeemer and it gives his back to the sea, and you can only perceive its majesty as you get closer to it.
Marateota cuisine has its own originality made of simple flavors combined with ingredients from the countryside and the sea but enhanced by new and delicious recipes.
The Tyrrhenian city is literally embraced by three of the most beautiful parks in the south: the Pollino National Park, the National Parks of the Lucano Apennines Val d'agri Lagonegrese and Cilento and Valle di Diano. Undisputed destinations in our training.
Maratea is not only known for its sea but is also the "city of 44 churches", as are the precious places of worship that shore up the territory.
